so a slight oversight on their part led to ucla mistakenly saying I was admitted as a phd student, when in fact i was offered admission for a masters. it doesn't make a big difference to me, except that funding's harder to get. but still. the jellyfish cries *:(((((

so yeah. i guess university of texas at dallas saw my stuff and was pretty interested, because they called me and said if i applied i have guaranteed admission and i'll get a scholarship for full tuition and 25k a year

an article about how "toddlers are altruistic". sigh. a more naive understanding of altruism was never had. the article cites toddlers helping the experimenter pick up books or clothes-pins, even without being asked. because it's not like the toddlers have learned at home that when they help their parents or peers, they treat them better. further, the article claims the toddlers only helped the man when he needed it because when he deliberately threw books and clothes-pins down, they didn't help him. or maybe... they saw he did it on purpose, and didn't perceive the activity as helping! this stuff is gross
