Hehe, michelle and i went to some italian restaurant in westwood, Mio Babbage. the food's ok, but they put us in a corner, the waiter came by once, just to take our order. we were visited two more times, when the busboy brought our drinks and our food. he forgot the wine i ordered, and my salad was late. needless to say, there was no tip. he did however provide the wine gratis when he realized he forgot it, so i wasn't planning on holding a grudge against the place. so michelle and i leave and start walking towards the movie store. about 2 blocks later, we here someone running behind us, and it's the waiter. he's like "hey, you forgot to leave a tip... was there something wrong with the service?" and we're like "yeah, there was" and start to list the reasons, and he just scoffs, shakes his head, and walks away, going "where you from, man? that's just rude". which is of course why i dont' like tipping at all; it
doesn't act as an incentive, because everyone just expects it. they think it's part of the price. if you want it to be in the price, just put it in there. anyway, that place is dumb. michelle and i couldn't stop laughing at him as he walked away.
saw dukes of hazzard. it wasn't very funny, but now i know the basic characters and stuff. hehe, one super funny thing though. farva from supertroopers is in it, and he was ok; but later on, they're driving around a university and get pulled over by the campus police, and it's the guys from super troopers. and they say exactly teh same lines to the duke boys as they did to the reefer kids in the beginning of supertroopers. it was so goddamn funny. just to hear him say "sweet mother of god" again.
also saw corpse bride. very mixed feelings. the idea is clearly my thing; the romance with the undead thing just does it for some reason. and the tim burton style on the two ladies was great, and a lot of the scenery was really fantastic. but so much of it was either really bad or just a big dissapointment. most of the songs were terrible; they were stupid shit about where they were going or stupid expositional things; very little emotional character development. the bride's song with the spider and worm is a good example: parts of it were really good, where she was singing about herself and about the way she felt about the situation; the parts with the spider/worm singing were dumb. just tons of poor word choice and very bad mood building. nbx did way, way better in terms of that. the actual story was pretty decent, though the ending didn't make sense and kind of killed it (rof rof). the whole thing i was torn between how good some of it was and how lame the rest was. i still wanna buy it, maybe it'll grow on me more
